Who Knew?

Monday, November 21, 2011

Have you ever brushed your lips?  Yeah I'm talking like, toothbrush brushed.  I'm not sure if this is a super old trick, but I just barely learned that if you brush your lips with your tooth brush twice a day it helps exfoliate dead skin and your lipstick will look better on your super smooth lips.  I use Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Color, it's like a lip paint that I seriously swear by.  When my lips are dry though it looks awful.  So.  Exfoliate.  Who knew?!

Apparently Hemorrhoid Cream, yes you read that right, reduces under eye puffiness and dark circles.  It contains chemicals that constrict blood vessels.  So use it under your eyes and on other red marks- like ZITS!  Shut up?!  I'll have to try it... it seems crazy!

Have stick straight lashes?  Yeah, me too.  I have a friend whose are absolutely perfect.  Shawnee- I hate you!  ANYWAY.  That stupid lash curler has never really worked for me.  Until I started heating the sucker up with my blow dryer.  Yup!  Blast it with some heat and it works like a curling iron on your lashes!

Use your hairspray bottle to dry the hairspray.  I can't believe I haven't shared this secret- it's such a part of my daily routine I totally just forgot about it!  Rat your hair, hair spray it and then hold the can up to your roots while the hairspray dries!

According to Woman's Day, eggs are good for your hair.  Use the entire egg to condition.  Use only the egg white to treat oily hair and use only the egg yolk to moisturize dry brittle hair.  The yolk is rich in fats and proteins which are naturally moisturizing.  And the egg white contains bacteria-eating enzymes which will remove unwanted oils!  Who knew?!  Rule of thumb, yolk treatment- once a month.  White treatment- once every two weeks.  Leave it in for about 20 minutes and rinse with cool water.  You don't want scrambled eggs in your hair!

Celebrity Beauty Secrets

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Stars have it all - talent, fame, money, an army of stylists, makeup artists, personal trainers, plastic surgeons, and nutritionists behind them.

Of course when you compare yourself with the beautiful (and retouched) celebrities, you lose that battle from the start. How do you afford all the treatments and products that use the famous beauties? Believe it or not, even they use the occasional cheap and effective trick.

We bring you 10 beauty tricks that everyone can afford.

1. White eyeliner

This is a very popular trick among the models. White eyeliner opens eyes and makes them brighter, if properly apply. Just apply little white eyeliner on the interior angles on the lower eye lid and your eyes will instantly look fresh and rested.

2. Cranberry Juice

Red-haired celebrities like Nicole Kidman use cranberry juice not only for drinking, but also for rinsing the hair to add shine and to keep the color rich and intense.

3. Satin's bedding

For a high-quality pillow is worth giving that dollar more. Cotton bed sheets make your skin wrinkled and cause damage to elasticity and moisture of your skin. So rather choose silk or satin sheets, which does wonders for your hair.

4. Whiten your teeth with strawberries

Have you ever wondered how celebrities have such white and perfect teeth? Their secret is the combination of strawberries and baking soda, which is an integral part of most toothpaste. Brush your teeth several times a week with the mixture. People who tried it swear in its effectiveness.

5. Peppermint extracts

Some stars, instead of painful injections of collagen to increase lips, decide to use peppermint extract. It's simple, cheap and effective - rub a small amount on the lips to enjoy the fuller, youthful lips that call for kissing.

6. Lemon juice

Lemon's juice is a natural tonic for the face. This is a trick used by many Hollywood's stars - the juice reduces pores and the skin looks fresh and clean, with a balanced complexion. Just use a few drops and clean your face as usual.

7. Face spray

This is another trick stolen from models - mix water and milk. This spray, if it is regularly used on a daily basis, will lock the natural skin moisture and your skin will look radiant.

8. Peeling with lactic acid

For radiant skin, stars use these tricks, but not more frequently than once every two weeks. Perform a body scrub based on serum lactic acid, and then mix mask of yogurt with a teaspoon of olive oil and allow it to dry for 20 minutes.

9. Olive oil

Olive oil is rich in antioxidants and vitamins A and E, and has the broadest possible application - an essential part of many hair masks, peels, and is excellent as a body oil. It is especially effective in removing waterproof mascara and make-up - the skin remains soft and gentle.

10. Apply your make up fast.

This little tip revealed Cindy Crawford. If you wear a little make-up, the same make-up will last longer. It is therefore, recommended to apply make-up in the shortest period of time. 5 minutes for make-up will be enough for your everyday look, and if you go out, give yourself 15 minutes.
