Heat Protectant for Blow Drying

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Toque Magico Emergencia Intensive Leave-In Conditioner for Blow is amazing and cheap at just $6.99 at RoundBrushHair! I've only used it once so far, but I just have to share the deets with you guys. Okay, so I've decided that I've had enough for the Dominican Salon for now, every now and then I need a break so I'm doing my hair myself again. Here is what I like to do: wash, condition, deep condition, blow dry, put in bun. Easy right? Here's the thing, I needed a new heat protectant and I wanted one specifically for blowdrying and not for flat ironing, so I selected this one as one of the products I won from RoundBrushHair contest.

Product Description: This spray will help protect your hair from the blow-dryer heat. Emergencia will also tame your frizz and moisturize your dry, chemically processed hair.

How to use: Spray along hair shaft at a distance of 4 inches and comb through to ends. It will also help detangle. Do not rinse out. You will have an exceptional shine and healthier looking hair.

Ingredients: Deionized water, cyclmeticone, propylene glycol, dimethiconol, glycerine, phenythrimeticone, metylparaben, fragrance, propylparaben, cetrimonium chloride, palmitol myristyl serinate, PEG-8, PEG-8 copolymer, FD&C Blue #1, FD&C Yellow #5, FD&C Red #4.

AHS Thoughts: I LOVED it. It is great to find a product that also conditions and moisturizes, while protecting my hair from the heat of the blowdryer. I only blow dry on low, so I don't really need a heavy duty heat protectant but you can't be too careful, right? It hardly has a scent, so it doesn't compete with the scent from my conditioner. After blow drying my hair felt even more soft than it usually does and blow drying was a cinch!

Wrap Lotion to Blow Dry

Monday, November 8, 2010

Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion is a lightweight foaming lotion, traditionally used for thicker and coarser hair types but now it is an emerging cult favorite amongst beauty industry insiders and high profile editorial and celebrity hair stylists.

This do-all wonder is great for a variety of hair types and does everything from enhancing curls, to holding wraps, wet sets and thermal styles, but is also great for fine/thinner hair types as a texturizing and volumizing mousse. The perfect pre-blow dry lotion, that gives you gorgeous volume, without the stiffness or residue that other texturizing products can leave behind. I never thought to use a Foaming Wrap Lotion before I blow dried my hair, but now that I have I had to share with the world.

Skinny Hair with Redken

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Every year Sleek Straight looks rock the magazine pages and always make it into the "trends" list for the season. This Fall, Redken helps you achieve a high maintanence look with minimal headache! the NEW Redken Real Control Slim Supreme slimming serum, a multi-use lightweight -formula that slims down dense, dry, sensitized hair with lasting all-day humidity resistance for a perfectly streamlined look with luscious shine.

“Silicone-based treatments are effective frizz-reducers because they create a barrier to protect the hair from external moisture,” states Rodney Cutler, Redken Brand Ambassador and owner of Cutler/Redken Salons. “For best results, apply Real Control Slim Supreme slimming serum on damp hair and blow-dry to reduce excessive volume and add sleek smoothness. Then re-apply Real Control Slim Supreme slimming serum on dry hair (as needed) focusing on ends for additional shine and frizz control – this allows for enhanced customization based on the specific needs of women with different types of high-maintenance hair.”

The key ingredients are Cationic Conditioners that deeply nourish and condition, Protein & Ceramides help protect, strengthen, and repair the hair fiber, plus Shea butter helps to smooth everything out and prevent frizz. I love the feel and lightweight texture of this product because it really does help turn my fat hair into smooth skinny hair.

Design Essentials Sleek Edge Control

(Sleek Edge Control Gel, $7.90 DesignEssentials.com)

I'm past 8 weeks post and I don't have any plan on relaxing my hair any time soon, so I've been wearing buns and slicking my edges back with Sleek Edge Control Gel. After I had to give up on Soft Sheen Carson's Jam (it broke my skin out around my hairline) I hadn't found a gel that worked well for me. That is until now, Design Essentials Sleek Edge Control Gel is amazing! First off, when I put it on my edges it doesn't dry it out like other gels instead my edges feel moisturized. Also, the shine that the gel provides is amazing. The gel is completely clear, so there is not flaky and none of that ugly brown goop around the hairline. My only issue is that the container is so small, I'm going to need the industrial size for the rest of the summer!
