Man Gadget: iPhone 3G S

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Finally, Apple has released the latest model of iPhone, iPhone 3G S

In many ways, the 3G S is a mirror image of the iPhone 3G; externally there's no difference. It's inside where all the changes have happened, with Apple issuing a beefed-up CPU, new internal compass, larger capacities for storage, and improved optics for its camera.

More to the point, the release of the 3G S coincides with the launch of iPhone OS 3.0, a major jump from previous versions of the system software featuring highly sought after features like cut, copy, and paste, stereo Bluetooth, MMS, tethering, video recording, landscape keyboard options for more applications, and an iPhone version of Spotlight. At a glance, what Apple seems to be doing is less a reinvention of the wheel and more like retreading the wheel it's already got (and what a wheel, right?).

So when is your next good reason to get yourself this new toy?

Sunday, March 22, 2009

What if I tell you not to change your underwear for five days? No way! But soon you will able to do this, of course if you want to. Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata is slated to test this new kind of underwear during his current visit to the space station. The "state-of-the-art" undies were designed "to reduce the smells in normal clothing, absorb sweat and provide insulation."

special underwear
The underwear, developed by Japanese researchers, are made of antibacterial polymers and are fire-resistant.

Astronauts normally change their clothes every three days. But with this "new invention", Koichi will attempt to wear the underwear for a full seven days

So what is your longest record?

Man Gadgets: Movie Emotion Jacket

Want to have better watching experience when you walk into movie theaters next time? As we slowly move to digital projectors and film makers start to experiment with 3D more, Philips Electronics are demonstrating one such experiment that takes the form of a jacket at the World Haptics Conference 2009 this month.

The researchers have modified a tight-fitting jacket to include 64 vibrating motors that sit against the body on the chest and arms. The motors are grouped into 4 lots of 16 with each controlled by its own processor. Even so, it can function on just two AA batteries, however, more batteries would be required to make it last through a full film.

Philips Movie Jacket

The point of the jacket is not to act like a force feedback device making the wearer feel every punch, kick, or explosion. Instead it is meant to gauge how a viewers emotional response and immersion in what they are viewing can be enhanced.

Man Gadget: iPhone & Fashion

Saturday, November 22, 2008

If you still have not get your iPhone by now, Is time to give yourself a good reason to get one. Style.com has recently (in fact, was September) released an application which specifically for iPhone, it's allows users to watch runway shows on their iPhones and is now available for download on iTunes.

According to Style.com: "We think this will revolutionize the way front-row types while away the minutes—hours?—waiting for the Marc Jacobs show to start, but don’t take our word for it. Watch this preview." Of course, currently all the runway shows are only for women wears. I am still waiting for menwear collection to be released. Hope Style.com can update this in this year.

If you still find this is not justifiable? How about this. LV cases for iPhone.
Monogram Canvas, Taiga Leather, Epi Leather and Alligator Skin. The Taiga Leather one has a belt attachment on it.

Only one issue. According to sean-inc's blog, "the new iPhone 3G is slightly too big for any of LV cases that are available right now. I stopped by the store yesterday to get one for my friend and SA told me the cases are for the old version of iPhone (even the not yet released Damier Graphite, what a bummer !!!) Then, he told me the story of one customer brought in 3G to try on and got stuck. That SA had to cut the case open to get the iPhone out."

So is this piece of information help you to make the decision now?

Man Car Review : Sports Activity Coupe by BMW

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

If driving an SUV has always seemed a little un-sporty, bulky and little un-cool for you, then you don't need to look further anymore now with BMW's Sports Activity Coupe
Well, this new segment of crossover vehicle created by BMW to describe the 2009 X6, which had made its official debut in Detroit. While it's not the best segment name you've ever heard, it still beats the ubiquitous “crossover.”

If you are familiar with BMW's X5, This Sports Activity Coupe is basically an extension of X5, but in a much sleeker package. BMW has clearly sacrificed some of the X5's utility (passenger room and cargo capacity) for the sake of styling, thanks to that sloping roofline.

According to industry news, The X6 will also be available in a hybrid model using the Two-Mode system it developed with GM, Mercedes-Benz and Chrysler, which give you more fuel efficient driving experience.

Man Fashion: Are You A Metro Man?

Saturday, April 12, 2008

By Tomer Reiser

The metro look is one of the hottest around and it's not hard to emulate. If you want to be a metro man, you'll be well on your way if you follow these steps:

1. Grooming - Before you get to the clothes, you've got to start with grooming. Metro men have impeccable hair cuts and they wax or shave any unnecessary hair. Painful, yes, but the overall effect makes it worth it.

2. Textures -The texture of the clothing you wear is very important. You want to go with the most opulent fabrics you can find. Look for cashmere sweaters and tee shirts, or high quality cotton. Your shirts should be soft and well tailored.

3. Cut - Metro men are tailored and always look sharp. Look for classic suits that present a professional and polished impression. For regular clothes, look for tight tees and expensive designer jeans.

4. Style - Metro men wear the latest fashions. Subscribe to a few men's fashion magazines so you can stay on top of all the latest trends.

5. Cologne - No metro man is complete without a dash of expensive cologne. Try to find a scent that fits your particular personality. If you're going for sensual, an oriental or musky scent is right for you. More of an outdoorsy type? Look for cologne with a fresh and clean scent.

6. Accessories - You'll need plenty of accessories to get started. First, a very nice expensive watch. Silver or gold are a good place to start, but a leather band always look nice too. Next, you'll need a fine chain for your neck in the color that suits your complexion the best. A tasteful ring isn't out of the question either, or a few bracelets to complete the look.

7. Shoes - Never overlook this important part of your outfit. Shoes can be classic or trendy, but they have to look good. Keep them polished and clean at all times. No metro man would be caught dead in a pair of scuffed and ratty shoes.

8. Go Digital - Metro men typically have a variety of digital accessories, including a cell phone, Blackberry, MacBook Air and an iPod.

9. Leather Goods - You'll need a nice leather bag to keep all your stuff together. Look for a high quality bag that will withstand the rigors of every day use. Make sure it has a padded portion for your laptop and other essentials.

10. Maintenance - Once you've got your look pulled together, you need to keep it up. Invest in some male facial cleansers, toners and moisturizers. Don't be afraid to get a manicure to keep your hands looking neat and clean.

Put all of these hints together and you can see just how easy it is to go "metro".

There is nothing wrong with a well-groomed, well-dressed man. Just remember to keep everything up and stay on top of all the latest fashion trends to make sure you don't fall behind.

Men Gadget: Samsung Android-based Phone

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Just to add on to my earlier mobile phone post, According to man-about-town, Robert X. Cringely, Samsung is readying not one, but two separate -based phones, one of which is due in September, with another model following around Christmas. If you believe what you read (and what his tipster says), these phones will not be labeled Samsung, rather they will be released as Google-branded .
Of course, this is just speculation now, given the large gap of time between now and September, it could be completely rearranged or nixed altogether. So stay update with the latest news.

Men Gadgets: Latest Mobile Phones Review

Monday, February 18, 2008

Do you know anyone in your circle of friends who does not yet own a cell phone? Probably not, as all and sundry have already picked up a handset regardless of age and economic background. After all, cell phone manufacturers have long catered their handsets to people from all walks of life, ranging from super cheap phones to high ends ones that seem to be able to do everything.

The keyword for the latter group is ’seem’, as Real Networks CEO Rob Glaser thinks otherwise. The man says that everyone will eventually carry at least a couple of cell phones since there is no perfect handset that is capable of doing everything you want and provide everything you need.
Having said that, mobile giants have released their latest mobile phone models which have encompassed almost if not all of the features and capabilities in the recent GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1

Sony Ericsson has introduced the XPERIA X1 mobile web device recently, probably intended to rival the iPhone. And by the looks of it, it pretty much looks like one.

Running Windows Mobile, the XPERIA X1 arc slider comes packed with a 3 inch, 800 x 480 pixels, 65k color TFT touchscreen, 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus, video recording, 400 MB of internal memory and microSD card support.

Nokia N96
Nokia unveiled the Nokia N96, a multimedia computer truly optimized for video and TV. With a large 2.8 screen, 16 gigabytes of internal memory and support for high-quality videos in a wide range of formats, the dual-slide Nokia N96 represents an exciting new chapter in mobile media.
The Nokia N96 multimedia computer is expected to begin shipping in the third quarter of 2008 with an estimated sales price of approximately 550 euros, before subsidies or taxes.

Samsung U900 The Samsung U900 is the updated version of the popular A990 model and, as such, offers one of the best digital camcorders/cameras available on a mobile phone. This includes and optical zoom lens as well as a great deal of additional technology. For example, it offers a 2,048 x 1,536 maximum pixel resolution and 3.2 megapixels. It also features auto-focus, TV output, Flash, and Pictbridge.

It also has video recording capabilities and can record for up to one hour with excellent resolution. This video can then be output directly to a television after being hooked up.

LG KF-510
LG Electronics, a worldwide technology and design leader in mobile communications, announced that it will debut its new LG-KF510 at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona, Spain on February 11, 2008. LG-KF510 is a stylish, fashionable phone catering to users’ demand for slimmer phones with unique design accents.

At just 10.9 mm thick, the LG-KF510 is the extremely slim slider phone. It combines a slim style with strength created by its metal frame and tempered glass. At the center of its design are metal gradation paint schemes available in Stardust Dark Gray or Sunset Red.

This attractive looking phone is equally attractive to use. Its tactile and visually interactive user interface includes captivating animation developed based on the LG’s advanced touch technology. Users will especially appreciate the quality of the LG-KF510’s multi-function camera with 3.0 mega pixel and MP3 player.
