Rock the Look: Half up Loose Waves

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

Jenny Cho, Suave Professionals Celebrity Stylist, worked her magic to create a gorgeous look for Elizabeth Olsen, the star of the buzz-worthy new film, Martha Marcy May Marlene. Olsen stars as the lead in this dark thriller, yet she certainly shined on the red carpet from hair-to-toe.

“As soon as I saw Elizabeth’s long gorgeous floral bohemian dress, I knew her hair had to be relaxed and easy. I gave her a slightly half up/half down look with strands falling around the face to give it a sweet, sexy vibe”
- Jenny Cho, Suave Professionals Celebrity Stylist

Rock the Look:

1.First, apply a golf ball size of Suave Professionals Captivating Curls Whipped Cream Mousse to wet hair and layer on a pea sized amount of Suave Professionals Sleek Anti-Frizz Cream, then diffuse dry.

2. Next, mist random sections with Suave Professionals Heat Protection Spray and redirect waves the hair around the face back, to open up the face.

3. Apply Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo all over hair, then flip hair over & shake to add texture.

4.Take a section around the crown area and tease the roots. Spray Suave Professionals Touchable Finish Lightweight Hold Hairspray to the teased sections for hold. Twist to create a bump and secure with bobby pins. This will be your base. Gently pull both sides and incorporate them into the base. Pull strands around the face to frame.

5. Finally, finish look with Suave Professionals Touchable Finish Extra Hold Hairspray.

Rock the Look: Katy Perry's 1940's Hair

Monday, August 29, 2011

Fekkai Celebrity Stylist Renato Campora was inspired to create a 1940’s look after seeing Katy’s Atelier Versace dress.  The final hairstyle can be described as a modern take on 1940's Hollywood.

Rock the Look:

  • Renato began by creating a side part to the wet hair. He applied Fekkai Full Blown Mousse throughout the hair to build a strong and reliable base.

  • Renato then blow-dried the hair using a round brush. Once the hair was completely dry, he used a ½ inch curling iron to add shape.

  • After letting the curls cool off he allowed the curls to set for 15 minutes and then brushed through the hair. Renato used Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairpsrayto secure the look, adding a lasting finish and shine.

  • To create the final touch, Renato took a one-inch strand of the hair and pinned it back with a vintage hairpiece, securing it with a bobby pin.

Katy rocked a matching parasol and added a cute little flowery thing in the side of her hairdo.

Later in the night Katy was seen sporting a whole new outfit and a yellow cube on top of her head, I know the person sitting behind her was pissed off!

Vanessa Simmons Braided 'Do

Saturday, August 27, 2011

Yesterday, Vanessa Simmons attended the Give Back Hollywood Foundation's benefit for VH1 Save the Music Foundation.  Vanessa looked awesome with the bob she's been recently sporting, but she changed it up by adding two loose braids in the front that were pinned back off the face.  The rest of her hair had a slight wave to it and overall the look seems easy to recreate.

I'll be trying it, how about you?

Rock the Look: Nicole Richie 60s Ponytail

Thursday, August 25, 2011

Wella Professionals Celebrity Stylist Andy Lecompte styled Nicole Richie’s super cute 60s-inspired high pony as she celebrated Charlotte Ronson’s new beauty line.

Rock the Look:
1. To start, Andy applied Wella Professionals Thermal Image Heat Protection Spray to each section of Nicole’s already dry hair to leave hair soft, shiny and manageable before smoothing out locks with a flat iron
2. Next, Andy pulled a mo-hawk section of the hair up and away while he pulled the rest of the hair into a super high pony with two elastics at the crown of the head for extra volume
3. Release the mo-hawk section of the hair and lightly blast with a blow dryer to find a part and smooth out any kinks
4. Lightly shake out the top section of the hair to let face-framing fringe fall, then separate the remaining hair into two sections on both sides of the head
5. One at a time, wrap the sections around the pony pin one at a time and secure with hair pins to hide the elastic and give shape to the head
6. Smooth fly-aways and set the look with a light mist of Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray
7. Add red-carpet worthy shine with Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray

*Shiny Hair Secret: Nicole takes excellent care of her hair with a great conditioning regimen. Boost your hair’s shine with a deep conditioner such as Wella Professionals Enrich Treatment to get instantly softer, shinier strands.

Lifestyle Leak: The Help

The Help (Movie Tie-In)

I know I've been missing in action but I've had some big shake ups in my life so I needed to take a huge break from blogging and everything really.  Now I'm back and lately, I've been spending a lot of time reading.  Two of my favorite books were Barefoot: A Novel and The Help.  The Help as you know is a movie that is about to launch and yes I plan on seeing it.  Growing up, my Grandmother was "The Help", she raised lots of children that grew up to become doctors, dentists, and lawyers so I was unsure what she would think about the movie, but she wants to see it too.  Luckily, for the most part the families she worked for were pleasant and now that she is retired they still keep in touch.

Anyway, one of the stars from The Help, Jessica Chastain looked awesome at the premiere of the movie.    Though she sports blonde locks in the film, she turned heads on the red carpet with her gorgeous, flowing red hair and beautiful gown. Jenny Cho, Suave Professionals Celebrity Stylist, gave Jessica a soft hairstyle to go with her elegant dress. “As soon as I saw her beautiful, flowing dress hanging by the window, I knew I wanted to give her a soft hairstyle that didn’t compete with her gown. I gave her a deep side part to give it a bit of drama but kept the style simple and pretty with a little texture to show off her gorgeous red hair flowing down her back” says Cho.

Follow Cho’s simple steps to make this look your own:

1. Starting with damp hair, make a deep side part and layer Suave Professionals Captivating Curls Whipped Cream Mousse and Suave Professionals Volumizing Root Boost Spray on hair and diffuse to bring out natural waves and texture.

2. Next, mist hair with Suave Professionals Touchable Finish Lightweight Hold Hairspray. Starting at the nape, wrap one-inch sections around a 1 ½ inch curling iron to make waves. Stretch and pull each section after curling so it looks wavy, not curly.

3. When the whole head is curled, rub a pea sized amount of Suave Professionals Sleek Anti-Frizz Cream into hands, flip head over and apply to hair to add shine.

4. While still flipped upside down, spray a few bursts of Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo to add extra texture. This will guarantee long lasting volume and grit for the entire night.

5. To finish, tuck light side of the hair behind the ear and mist entire look with extra hold hair spray to lock it in.

Beat the Heat with Braids

Thursday, June 9, 2011

When it's super hot outside the last thing I want is my hair on my neck, back, and shoulders. Bohemian braids are a great way to keep cool and still look great, plus this style works on both relaxed and natural hair.

VO5 has provided the how to for this easy to do Bohemian inspired braided updo.

1. Work in Perfect Hold Styling Mousse dry hair.

2. Section off a 1-inch section from the front of the hair line and create a French braid from one ear to the other, tucking in the ends with a bobby pin

3. Section off another 1-inch section behind the original French braid and create another French braid in the opposite direction, tuck the ends in with a bobby pin

4. Create a bun with the remaining hair and finish with Perfect Hold Styling Hairspray

Gisele Bundchen @ MET Gala 2011

John Frieda Global Creative Consultant Harry Josh styles Gisele Bundchen for the 2011 New York Met Ball. While the tousled beach wave look has ruled the red carpet as of late, Harry Josh opted for a classic Old Hollywood-inspired style for Bundchen at the Met Ball this year. Although Giselle's hair is already luminous and healthy, Josh began with John Frieda Full Repair Perfect Ends Sheer Mist before blow drying to protect her tresses from the heat and seal the cuticles for flawlessly shiny waves.

Josh started by blow drying Gisele’s hair, curling each piece carefully and setting it to keep the shape. The curls were then brushed out to create a soft and sleek wave throughout. John Frieda Full Repair Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer was used which weightlessly smoothes flyaways for a polished red carpet look. “I wanted to go for a sleek, sophisticated style for Gisele this year. The Met Ball is fashions biggest night and I thought this was the perfect look to complement the evening. The John Frieda Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer will keep her photographer ready all night.”
