Victorias Secret Angel Makeup Tutorial - VS Fashion Show 2011

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

It's that time again! The annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show airs tonight! (November 29th on CBS)

Because it was filmed weeks ago, I've gotten the opportunity to see some backstage footage and get the inside scoop on all the makeup worn in the show.
The makeup for the show usually has a theme that carries on year after year: bronze, glowy skin, defined and ultra-sexy eyes done in natural shades, and glossy lips. This year was no different. However, each year there's always something that they do on each model that makes that year unique. This year the eye shadow was toned down and the eyes were centered around a heavier (but soft and smudged) application of liner. The skin was really the focus of the look. Bronzed and glowy. But the glow was very golden. I actually used the same highlight color on my eyes as my face which pulled the whole look together.

To see a step-by-step tutorial of the look so you can re-create the look yourself, check out my video at the bottom of the post.

xoxo, Tiffany

How I Clean and Dry Makeup Brushes

Sunday, November 13, 2011

Cleaning my makeup brushes used to be (well, and still is) one of my least favorite things to do.

For several reasons...

First of all, it just takes too long. Between cleaning them and waiting for them to dry, it's a process. If I leave them on the counter to dry overnight, they're usually still damp the next morning. Ever tried to use a damp makeup brush in blush or face powder? Not cute.

Another reason is that no matter how careful and gentle you are while cleaning them, or how carefully you lay them out to dry and reshape them, they'll always look a bit different. Especially natural hair brushes. Makes sense since they're, well, natural hair. Imagine letting your hair naturally dry overnight. Hey, sometimes it can be cute, but it sure doesn't look the same as it did before you washed it (that is, if you had it straightened before washing it, as makeup bristles are always straight).

Then there is just the actual task of cleaning them. Unless someone invents an automatic brush cleaner (which I don't forsee happening), this will always be a chore to me.

Ok, we get it. Cleaning brushes is no fun.

Considering I've found some ways around these little problems above, I figured it was time to update you guys with how I currently clean and dry them. Especially since I've found a way to dry them even faster. Over the past several months, I've been using a new product that actually dries them in 4-6 hours. No joke. It also keeps the brushes in their original shape which is exciting. Another exciting extra- If you click here for the Dry n' Shape and enter the coupon code TIFFANY5 at checkout, you'll save $5 on it. Which makes it even more affordable. That is pretty exciting as well.

Some of you may not find this all as exciting as I do. But I really dislike cleaning brushes. Did I mention that already? ...or that I think this is exciting? ;)

Here's a video demonstration of how I clean my brushes. Yep, I take you guys to my sink. Now that is exciting.

Deep Purple Tutorial: Dior "Mystic Smokys" Palette

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

I LOVE a sophisticated purple look. Whenever I want to do a more colorful look, purple is always my favorite choice. Something else I love? A good eye shadow palette that can produce a full look without reaching for much else. So glad I picked up the Dior Mystic Smokys palette during the Sephora Friends and Family sale a few weeks back! I even got away with not reaching for a separate eye liner. Which is crazy. The dark purple in the palette made the most perfect liner. To make the look a little brighter, I used a few bright pencil eye shadows underneath, which made the look a little more fun. Hope you guys enjoy :)

Cooler weather, turning leaves, college football, pumpkin spice lattes, Fall makeup tutorials, glitter... Wait, what?

*Other eye shadow ideas: Any frosted brown, bronze, MAC Club, or even a cranberry shade

MAC Fluidline in Dark Diversion (deep plum)

Full Foundation Routine: Easy and Quick!

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

I get excited about foundation tutorials. I don't get excited about foundation tutorials that make such a task seem like rocket science.

I'm guilty of posting a few of those in my day, I'm sure. Actually I'm positive.

So I really wanted to do an updated one showing you all that you can actually do a full foundation routine quick and easily using all the bells and whistles -- primer, foundation, concealer, setting powder... The works.

Just listing all of those things make me cringe because day to day, I like to keep things simple. But it dawned on me that these things are usually a part of my simple day to day look if I'm going out.

The best part? It only takes me a couple minutes to complete and the results last all day.

So if you want to see how quick and easy full foundation can actually be, or if you just want to check me out in my zero-makeup glory before things get rollin', check out a demo of my current foundation routine in the video below.

Products mentioned in the video:

Origins Vitazing Moisturizer

Garnier Anti-Dark Circle Undereye Roller (magic)

Too Faced Primed and Poreless

Sigma F84 brush (LOVE)

Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ liquid foundation, #40

MAC Studio Finish Concealer, NC20

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, Light Medium

NARS Laguna bronzer

NARS Orgasm blush

Back to School.... Back to School...

Sunday, August 14, 2011

...or work.

What's genius about my back to school tips is that they are the SAME ones I would give for the working gal. So give this one a chance.

I'm totally guilty of overlooking these "back to school" type videos myself, just because, well... I'm not in school anymore.

But these tips are really great for everyone because it's all about creating a quick, easy, and long-wearing look that will take you through the day.

I get so many requests for a "back to school" makeup tutorial. Which to me, is kind of tricky because there are so many possibilities for a specific "back to school" look.

Even trickier, because in high school and college, girls are just beginning to really define their style. Some may be more comfortable wearing more makeup than others. Some may even go to schools with rules and restrictions on what kind and how much makeup can be worn.

That's when I realized that "back to school" makeup isn't defined by a specific look, but should really be all about ease and results.

In other words, something that will get you out the door fast and stay on all day.

Because at school, the last thing you should be worried about is touching up your makeup.

So here are some of my favorite tips for long-wearing makeup that is super easy and quick to apply. So whether you're a mascara and lip gloss gal, or if you love your eyeliner (like I did...every. single. day.), you can adjust these tips and the tutorial to suit you.

Yeah, you read that right. Come on, I was in to makeup. It was my thing.

Check out my video below for all my tips and the tutorial.

Then stop reading my blog and go do your homework.

xoxo, Tiffany

How to Make Colorful Liner Wearable!

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

If you're like me, somewhere in your makeup collection, you're probably hoarding a shameful stash of gorgeous, colorful eye liners that don't get much love.

The months pass...
Your gorgeous rainbow of little liquid pretties in the drawer begin to expire. aaaaand you don't have the heart to throw them out because they've only been touched once. I feel ya. I have one of those stashes too.

So one day a couple weeks back I found a really easy and flattering way to incorporate colorful liner into your everyday makeup routine when you want to have a little fun!
Don't be afraid to use color where eye liner is concerned! It can be done in a way that looks grown-up and flattering.

Highlighting 101

Monday, June 20, 2011

There are SOOOO many different facial highlighting products out there. Cream, liquid, primers, powders... it can get confusing. How to use them can seem even trickier.

...because with highlighting products, there is a fine line between glowy and disco ball.

We want to make sure "disco ball" never happens. Unless, of course, it's intentional.

Summer Self-Tanning and Bronzing How-to and Fav Products

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Yep...it's that time of year again!

I absolutely LOVE this time of year because of the warmer weather. With warmer weather comes smaller outfits which equal more skin... Which usually leads to a self-tanning routine that is an absolute hassle.

I don't like to have more of a tan in the summer because it's "trendy" or because I feel I have to. I personally like a bit of a glow because it's what I personally prefer and feel more comfortable with. Some people prefer just the opposite, and that's perfectly fine!

But if you are like me and love a bit of a natural glow, but don't have a the time or patience to mess with complicated and messy self-tanning products, check out my video below for the awesome new products I've discovered that do the trick!

Happy Summer!

Summer Yellow Makeup Tutorial *Feature Flattering*

Saturday, May 21, 2011

Let's be honest. Yellow is a tricky eye shadow color.
It's super easy to slap on bright yellow eye shadow and call it a day, but whenever I do makeup, I like it to bring out my features-- Make my eye lashes look thicker, make my eyes look brighter, make me look like I actually put some thought into this super bright color on my lids.

Something tells me you guys like that too. :)

Here is how I wear yellow and make it flattering--

Products used:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil in Milk -matte white cream eye shadow
MAC eye shadows:
Gesso -matte white
Chrome Yellow -matte bright primary yellow
Crest the Wave -lighter frosted yellow (limited edition shade- If you don't have something similar, mix the white with the other yellow you use to make a brighter shade)
Print -satin dark gray
MAC Eye Kohl in Fascinating -white liner for waterline
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack -jet black gel liner
Covergirl Lashblast mascara
Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Dollface -bright pink
MAC Sheen Supreme lipstick in Behave Yourself
YSL Golden Gloss in #10
